How to be a Guide

In order to be a Guide for the OYHP you must possess a desire to teach our heritage to a young hunter. You will be required to set an example at all times of respect for the animals, the property owners, the other guides and volunteers, and the surroundings you are in. Believing in your skills, and passing it to a young man or woman, is a fulfilling adventure that will keep you coming back to guide over and over again. The friendships you capture with the youth and parents are priceless. Guides are subject to and MUST pass a background check. All Guides are accompanied by a parent/guardian for their assigned hunter. You are not only responsible for teaching the skill of hunting but you are encouraged to advance the hunters knowledge in gun safety, respect for the animal and how to leave nature as you found it.
